Serie A giants AC Milan have reportedly established new contacts with Chelsea regarding 22-year-old attacking prospect Armando Broja, a target for Everton.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Armando Broja is the subject of interest from AC Milan. The 22-year-old Chelsea prospect is also a target for Everton in the summer transfer window. However, the Serie A giants have contacted the West London club regarding a move for the out-of-favour striker.
Armando Broja and his Chelsea struggles
Armando Broja has seen the prospect of becoming the first-choice striker for Chelsea go up in smoke in the last 18 months. Born in Slough, he has represented Albania internationally since his days in age-group football. He has been with Chelsea since 2009, rapidly rising through the ranks at Cobham before breaking into the first-team squad in March 2020.
The 22-year-old became one of the most highly-rated young strikers in the Premier League after an excellent loan spell with Southampton. Broja returned to Chelsea brimming with confidence before a long-term knee injury scuppered his progress and ended his chance of becoming the first-choice striker.
The Albanian international struggled in the first half of the 2023/24 season before Fulham signed him on loan in January. However, the youngster managed only 81 minutes of game time across eight outings for the West London club. So, it is hardly surprising that Broja faces an uncertain future at Chelsea, with AC Milan and Everton ready to end his Stamford Bridge horror.
Where will Broja ply his trade next season?
Everton’s interest in Armando Broja is understandable. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto face an uncertain future at Goodison Park, with the Toffees willing to part ways with the latter and the former ready to embark on a new adventure. So, Everton can do with a new striker, with the Chelsea prospect a viable target.
As for AC Milan, they are keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window after losing Olivier Giroud as a free agent. While Alvaro Morata has arrived at San Siro, they want another centre-forward due to Luka Jovic’s inconsistencies. Broja is thus an option worth considering, with AC Milan establishing new contacts with Chelsea.
With the Rossoneri pushing hard to secure Armando Broja’s services, Everton must raise the bar to leapfrog the Italian giants in the race to sign the 22-year-old Chelsea prospect. It will be interesting to see where the Albanian international plies his trade in the 2024/25 season.
