Santiago Gimenez eyeing Premier League move amid exit links

Santiago Gimenez wants to move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window amid his links with Liverpool and Tottenham.

According to a report by Mexican outlet TV Azteca, Santiago Gimenez will likely move to the Premier League after leaving Feyenoord in the summer transfer window. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are among the prospective suitors of the Mexican international, who has boosted their prospects of signing him.

Santiago Gimenez and his impeccable Feyenoord journey

Santiago Gimenez has transformed into a prolific striker since joining Feyenoord from CD Cruz Azul in July 2022. The 23-year-old did not take much time to hit the ground running and played a leading role in Feyenoord winning the Eredivisie title last season.

While Feyenoord relinquished the Eredivisie title to a rampant PSV Eindhoven this season, the Mexican international remained at his best throughout the campaign. Gimenez has amassed 26 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, the player’s progress in the Netherlands in the last two years have not gone unnoticed.

Widespread reports have claimed have claimed that a summer exit from Feyenoord is on the cards for Gimenez. The player has no shortage of suitors clamouring for his signature in the summer transfer window. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are two of his prospective suitors, with Leeds United and Southampton also interested.

Premier League beckons?

Recent reports have claimed that Liverpool will unlikely sign Santiago Gimenez in the summer transfer window. However, the Reds remain interested in the 23-year-old amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Darwin Nunez. So, the Feyenoord striker has emerged as a viable target for the Merseyside outfit.

As for Tottenham, they have pursued Gimenez for a long time. The North London giants have previously made their attempts to inch closer to signing the Mexican international. Tottenham and Liverpool now have a shot in their arms, with the report claiming Gimenez will leave Feyenoord to embark on a new adventure in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Tottenham face stiff competition from Leeds United and Southampton. However, Leeds United cannot offer Premier League football, while Gimenez might feel the Saints are beneath him. So, it will be interesting to see where the 23-year-old plies his trade in the 2024/25 season.
