Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly submitted an enquiry for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, a target for Arsenal.

According to a report by Mexican outlet Medio Tempo, Santiago Gimenez is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. And the Premier League heavyweights have established the contacts over a move for the 23-year-old striker. Meanwhile, the Feyenoord attacker is also a target for fellow North London club Arsenal heading into the summer transfer window.

The rise and rise of Santiago Gimenez

Santiago Gimenez has become a household name since joining Feyenoord from Cruz Azul in July 2022. The Mexican international had spent most of his formative years with Cruz Azul but rose in prominence after moving to Europe. He took no time to hit the ground running and inspired Feyenoord to win the Eredivisie title in the 2022/23 season.

While Feyenoord will likely concede the Eredivisie title to PSV Eindhoven this term, Gimenez’s form has remained excellent throughout the campaign. The 23-year-old has amassed 24 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions, with his only major failure coming in the UEFA Champions League.

Meanwhile, Gimenez’s progress at Feyenoord has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Tottenham’s interest in Santiago Gimenez is understandable. The North London club parted ways with Harry Kane last summer but did not sign a prolific striker to fill his void at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. So, Son Heung-min has shouldered much of the goalscoring burden, thus necessitating the need for a striker.

As for Arsenal, with Gabriel Jesus not being productive in front of the goal, they need a top-class striker. Gimenez has thus emerged as a viable target for Arsenal, with several other candidates featuring on the club’s radar. However, the Gunners have fallen behind Tottenham, with the club establishing contact over a move.

With Tottenham initiating the move for the 23-year-old Mexican international, Arsenal must step up to secure his services. Meanwhile, several other well-known outfits, including RB Leipzig, are keen on signing Gimenez. With the youngster reportedly ready for a new adventure, it will be interesting to see where he lands.
