Tottenham Hotspur and Feyenoord have reportedly been in contact over a possible move for 22-year-old Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez.

According to reputed Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Santiago Gimenez is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old goal machine is the priority target for the North London club heading into the summer transfer window. And they have been in contact with Feyenoord over a possible move for the striker.

The Rise and Rise of Santiago Gimenez

Santiago Gimenez has blossomed into a goal machine since joining Feyenoord from CD Cruz Azul in July 2022. The Mexican international was already a prolific attacker in his homeland. However, he has taken his performances up several levels since arriving in Europe nearly two years ago.

The 22-year-old was instrumental in Feyenoord winning the Eredivisie title last season. And he has stepped up further this term, contributing to 30 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions. Gimenez has found the back of the net 24 times thus far while providing six assists.

Gimenez’s progress at Feyenoord has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with several well-known outfits showing interest in him. Tottenham Hotspur will look to beat the competition to his signature in the summer transfer window.

London Calling?

Tottenham’s interest in Santiago Gimenez is understandable. The North London club did not sign a like-for-like replacement for Harry Kane last summer after the Englishman’s departure to Bayern Munich. So, several candidates have emerged on Tottenham’s radar, with the Feyenoord striker being the priority target for the team.

The latest update has corroborated such a notion, claiming Tottenham will prioritise signing Gimenez from Feyenoord in the summer transfer window. In addition, they have been in contact with the Eredivisie champions for several weeks, with talks between the two parties escalating.

So, we might see the 22-year-old goal machine moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if other clubs join the race and beat the North London outfit to Gimenez’s signature in the coming months.
