Santiago Gimenez unlikely to join Liverpool this summer

Liverpool have been linked with a move for 23-year-old Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Give Me Sport, Liverpool are unlikely to make a move for Santiago Gimenez. The Mexican international is on the radar of Arsenal, Tottenham and Real Madrid as well.

Gimenez has been in impressive form this season, scoring 24 goals across all competitions. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for most Premier League clubs, and Liverpool could have certainly used someone like him.

Darwin Nunez has not been able to score goals consistently, and he has missed plenty of big chances. Liverpool need a more reliable finisher, and Gimenez would have been a quality addition.

The Mexican has the quality to compete at the highest level, and he will certainly fancy a move to a big club in the near future. Moreover, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is expected to take over at Liverpool. So, the potentially incoming manager could have helped the Premier League side convince the Mexican to join.

Arsenal, Tottenham, and Real Madrid in the race

Arsenal are keen on signing the striker as well.  They will need to bring in a quality replacement for Gabriel Jesus, who has been quite underwhelming this season. The Brazilian has just four goals in the Premier League, and Arsenal need someone more reliable leading the line for them.

The Gunners are hoping to win league titles and UEFA Champions League trophies. They need better players at their disposal to compete with the elite clubs. Meanwhile, Tottenham are looking at strikers as well, with Gimenez on their radar. They choose not to replace Harry Kane at the start of the season and have missed his presence in front of goal.

Spurs need to bring in a reliable finisher this summer, and the Mexican would have been a quality addition. He has proven himself to be a quality finisher for Feyenoord, helping them when the league title last season. Gimenez will look to take the next step in his development and compete at a higher level. A move to Tottenham could be ideal for him.

Finally, Real Madrid are monitoring his development as well. The Spanish giants are currently missing recognised number nine apart from Joselu, who is a backup option. So, it will be interesting to see if they decide to make a move forgiven raise at the end of the season.

Los Blancos are widely regarded as the biggest club in the world, and the opportunity to join them can be quite tempting for most players. The Mexican is likely to be tempted if there is a concrete proposal from Real Madrid on the table.

The Mexican striker needs to join a club where he will be able to express himself and compete for major trophies. It remains to be seen where he ends up. He is still relatively young at 23 and could improve further with coaching and experience.
