Feyenoord boss Arne Slot is all set to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s new manager starting next season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool’s search for a new manager has finally ended as Arne Slot is all set to take over from Jurgen Klopp. The Reds have reached an agreement with Feyenoord regarding compensation for the Dutch manager’s move to Anfield.
Liverpool’s search for a new boss
Klopp’s decision to part ways with the Merseyside club did come as a surprise to many. But, to his credit, he did give Liverpool enough time to prepare for life without him.
They have been on the lookout for a new boss since the start of the year. Xabi Alonso was their priority before he ended up committing his future to Bayer Leverkusen. Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim was also quite high on their wishlist alongside Feyenoord’s Arne Slot.
The Reds were involved in talks with the 39-year-old Portuguese manager, but those discussions reached a standstill. Slot became the front-runner for the job, and Liverpool have been involved in talks to bring the Dutch manager to the club.
Slot has had a huge impact on the Dutch club. He has transformed them into a winning team and even guided them to the league title last season. His work at Feyenoord put him on the radar of the Reds, and they have managed to strike a deal to appoint the 45-year-old as their next boss.
Liverpool make Slot the most expensive Dutch manager
Arne Slot was keen on making the move to Liverpool, and personal terms were never really a problem. But, with his contract at Feyenoord running until the summer of 2026, the Reds had to pay compensation.
Both clubs were involved in a lot of discussions and finally, an agreement between both parties was reached. The Reds have agreed to pay around €13-15 million for the 45-year-old, making him the most expensive Dutch coach of all time.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have also sorted out contract details for Slot. Final paperwork related to the deal will be taken care of over the weekend post that there will be an official confirmation of the appointment.
