Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad are vying for Ederson this summer, with Manchester City set to demand a significant fee.
According to Fichajes, Ederson has continued to attract the interest of Saudi Arabian clubs, with Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad vying for the Brazilian’s signature. The 30-year-old Manchester City mainstay has been a pillar under Pep Guardiola, and City are set to demand a significant fee should the keeper choose to leave the club in the summer.
Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad keen on Ederson?
Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have been lauded for many years for their decision to pay big for Alisson Becker, which instantly solidified their defensive ranks. Manchester City made a similar move before the Reds did when they signed Ederson from SL Benfica, and the Brazilian has proven his worth in the seven years he has been at the Etihad.
Ederson recently won his sixth Premier League title for Manchester City, and the 30-year-old mainstay has accumulated 17 trophies during his time at the club. However, credible reports have linked the Brazilian with a move to Saudi Arabia, as Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad are keen on the keeper ahead of the summer.
Ederson still has a contract with Manchester City until 2026, and considering Stefan Ortega might also look to leave the club to be a No.1 elsewhere, the German might find himself in an unusual spot to become Guardiola’s No.1 choice. Manchester City are reportedly seeking £50 million to sell Ederson, something the Saudi sides might have no problems paying up.
The Brazilian international might find himself in the thick of Saudi interest, as he could well decide on a swift change in his career. Landing in the Middle East would guarantee the 30-year-old mainstay a lucrative deal, something he might opt for, considering he has already won everything that is there at Manchester City.
Who will sign Ederson?
At 30, Ederson is still relatively young for a goalkeeper, or rather, at the perfect age. The Saudi Pro League is eager to attract big-name signings to improve its profile and standards. Signing the Manchester City mainstay will be seen as a big coup for the Middle Eastern league.
Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad are among the four PIF-owned clubs. So, they could mutually decide who wants to sign the Brazilian keeper.
