Liverpool and Chelsea scouted Teun Koopmeiners in Coppa Italia final

Liverpool and Chelsea scouts were present during the Coppa Italia Final and have reportedly watched Teun Koopmeiners.

According to HITC, Liverpool and Chelsea were in attendance during the Coppa Italia Final to watch Teun Koopmeiners alongside a few other stars. The Premier League pair are keen on the 26-year-old Atalanta midfielder, and Juventus is also closely monitoring his situation.

Liverpool, Chelsea scout Teun Koopmeiners

There are a raft of clubs closely monitoring Teun Koopmeiners after a tremendous season, during which he could end up as European champions with Atalanta if they win the Europa League. The Dutchman has had a direct hand in 22 goals and assists for the Italian side this season, and he’s heavily linked with an exit from the club in the close season.

A host of clubs in the Premier League are looking at signing him, with Chelsea sounding out a move for the 26-year-old midfielder. The Blues are in the market for a new midfielder as they are unsure about Conor Gallagher’s future and might see Koopmeiners as a potential replacement for the England international.

Liverpool are also keen and have closely monitored the attacking midfielder over many months. They want to add a new player of his ilk to their side in the summer and could be willing to pay what’s necessary to prise him away. Atalanta are in a strong negotiating position and are reporteldy demanding around €60 million.

It appears that Liverpool and Chelsea scouts were present during Atalanta’s Coppa Italia Final loss to Juventus and may have watched Koopmeiners rather closely. Whether they are convinced about readily approaching the 26-year-old midfielder remains the question, but not out of the question.

Juventus leading Koopmeiners race

If Liverpool or Chelsea want to bring Koopmeiners definitively, then they might have to make their move quickly or risk losing the Dutchman to Juventus. The Italian giants have already sounded out a move for the 26-year-old and are currently leading the race for him

The Bianconeri are likely to lose Adrien Rabiot in the summer, and with a new manager likely to replace Massimiliano Allegri, there’s a possibility they will have room for a player of Koopmeiners’ profile. Hence, the race is hot for the Dutchman, with each of those three teams having a big chance to sign the 26-year-old.
