Manchester United keen on Alex Remiro

Manchester United have added Alex Remiro to their list of new goalkeeper targets, with Real Sociedad demanding his entire release clause.

According to Marca, Manchester United have definitively added Alex Remiro to their list of new goalkeeper targets ahead of the summer. The Red Devils are not satisfied with the expensive Andre Onana. They could look to bring competition for places, although they must negotiate with Real Sociedad to reduce the €70 million-rated La Liga star’s asking price.

Does Manchester United want Alex Remiro?

The defence has been a big problem for Manchester United this season, and their expensive goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has come in for plenty of criticism during phases of the campaign. On Monday, he conceded four more goals, Crystal Palace running rampant, condemning Erik ten Hag’s side to another disappointing night.

They have conceded 81 goals in all competitions, which is terrible considering Onana’s reputation in the international footballing circuit. Manchester United is not necessarily considering replacing the Cameroonian in the summer, but they want to bring competition for the keeper, with Alex Remiro as their latest target.

Remiro has been having a terrific season with Real Sociedad, conceding only 40 goals in all competitions and keeping 20 clean sheets. He also earned his first call-up to the Spanish national side in March and is expected to go along with the team for the Euros.

Manchester United are wary of his huge asking price, with Real Sociedad set to demand the total value for the €70 million-rated La Liga star. The Red Devils will undoubtedly negotiate with the Spanish side, and there are some chances the two sides can agree.

Who are Manchester United’s other targets?

Manchester United are eyeing several other names to replace second-choice keeper Altay Biyandir. The idea is to bring someone who can keep Onana on his toes and give the manager a selection headache for games. Lazio’s Ivan Provedel is a target; they could entice him over a switch for the right price.

They are also keen on Andriy Lunin, the current Real Madrid keeper, who might find himself as backup to Thibaut Courtois next season when the Belgian returns. He has been fantastic for the Spanish giants and should be the second choice next season; he could ask for a departure.
