Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of 25-year-old Real Madrid shot-stopper Andriy Lunin.

According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United are looking to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer and they have their set on Andriy Lunin. The 25-year-old’s future at Real Madrid is uncertain and he could look for a move in the upcoming transfer window.

Lunin’s impressive rise at Real Madrid

Lunin joined Real Madrid back in the summer of 2018. After a few loan spells in the initial years, the Ukrainian international has been a part of their first team as a backup to Thibaut Courtois. Despite his huge potential, he has never really had an extended run in the first team.

An injury crisis at the Spanish club has given him an opportunity and he has taken it with both hands. The 25-year-old has been in sensational form and he has played a big part in Los Blancos’ dominance this term.

While he has been doing exceptionally well, the Ukrainian international has doubts about his future at Real Madrid. His current deal runs out in the summer of 2025 and Los Blancos are pushing to extend his stay at the club. They are ready to reward him for his performance.

Lunin’s uncertain future & Manchester United’s interest

Lunin is unsure about renewing his deal and competing with Thibaut Courtois as a move elsewhere could allow him to be an undisputed number one. There is no shortage of interest in the 25-year-old’s services on the back of his exceptional performances in La Liga and the Champions League.

Manchester United are one of the clubs keen on having him at their disposal. Despite having signed Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir last summer, the Reds Devils are looking for a new shot-stopper. They are unsure about Onana being their number-one given his inconsistent performances in his debut season.

They see the Lunin situation as an opportunity to sign a top-quality goalkeeper to reinforce their defence. United’s new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has big plans to revive the club and they are expected to major moves in the summer, signing the Real Madrid ace could be one of them.
