Chelsea are interested in the services of 22-year-old Manchester United target Michael Olise and are in contact to re-sign him.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea are looking at ways to reinforce their squad ahead of next season and they have their eyes on Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. The 22-year-old is a huge prospect and multiple top clubs are interested in his services.
Michael Olise’s time at Crystal Palace
Olise has gone from strength to strength since joining the Eagles from Reading in the summer of 2021. He has 36 goal contributions in his 85 appearances for the club. The French youth international has put in impressive performances over the past few seasons.
While he has struggled with injuries this time around, the 22-year-old still has 11 goal contributions in his 14 outings this term. Meanwhile, he is back fit and firing on all cylinders having bagged a goal and an assist in his last outing against West Ham.
His impressive rise and huge potential are two major reasons why clubs are keen on signing him. While the French winger did pen down a contract extension last summer, it was a case of the Eagles securing the value of the player and a transfer in the summer is very much a possibility.
Palace managed to remove the £35 million release clause in his deal and now are expected to demand a hefty fee for the services of the 22-year-old. Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been linked with Olise for a while now.
Manchester United to face competition from Chelsea
The Red Devils want to reinforce their attack and the French youth international is a top target for them. As per reports, their new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team have already given the green light to the move.
People at the club are working on it and they are considered favourites at this stage but they will face competition from Chelsea. The Blues have remained in contact regarding a deal for their former youth product via co-director of recruitment Joe Shields.
They are looking to convince him about a return to the club as they look to revive themselves. The London club will once again push for a number of new signings in the summer.
Their priority will be to reinforce their attack where they will look for a new number nine and a creative force. The 22-year-old Crystal Palace winger is the one they are targeting for the creative roles as he has already proven himself at the English top flight.
