Manchester City have held talks with Wolves for their 22-year-old Algerian sensation Rayan Ait-Nouri amidst interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Manchester City are always on the lookout for ways to further bolster their ranks, and they are looking to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves. The 22-year-old has been a standout performer for his club in the ongoing season and City have already made moves to sign him.

Ait-Nouri has gone from strength to strength since joining Wolves back in 2020. The Algerian international seems to have taken his game to the next level in the recent past, and his impressive performances have attracted a lot of attention.

In the ongoing season, he has featured as a wing-back on the majority of the occasions. Ait-Nouri has featured in 32 matches for Wolves and has been a constant threat to the opposition from the left flank. The 22-year-old has even contributed towards five goals.

Pep Guardiola wants Ait-Nouri in his ranks

Rayan Ait-Nouri’s attacking ability is one of the major reasons why Pep Guardiola wants him in his ranks starting next season. While Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake have been used as left-back by the Spanish manager this term and the duo have done a decent job, he still wants a more attacking option and feels Ait-Nouri could help their cause.

The treble winners could face competition for his signatures from Liverpool and Arsenal. Both clubs have identified the 22-year-old as a potential target as they look for more depth in the left-back slot. They could cause problems for City but for now, they are leading the race.

Their pursuit could be aided by their great relationship with Jorge Mendes, the 22-year-old’s agent. Meanwhile, they have already held talks with Wolves regarding a potential transfer. They have put forward the idea of involving Sergio Gomez in a player-plus-cash deal for Ait-Nouri.

Gomez has not had the best of times since joining Manchester City in 2022 and is looking for a way out. He could get an opportunity to revive himself at Wolves, who get a quality player along with significant cash in return for their defensive sensation’s services. Wolves have set a huge asking price of €70 million. As a result, it will surely not be that straightforward a deal.
