Liverpool are front-runners for the signatures of 22-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri.

According to a report by La Gazette du Fennec, Liverpool are keen on bolstering their attack ahead of next season and they have their eyes on Rayan Ait-Nouri. The 22-year-old has been in sensational form in the ongoing season and multiple clubs are considering making a move for him in the summer.

Ait-Nouri came up the ranks at French club Angers SCO before making the move to Wolves in October 2020. He joined them on a short loan before making a permanent switch in the summer of 2021.

He had a great start to life at the English club but things did take a turn in the second season as he was used as a rotation. But, the Algerian international has forced his way back into the starting XI and has been putting in a lot of impressive performances this season.

Ait-Nouri has featured in 24 Premier League games this term, the left-back has even contributed towards three goals. His consistent display on the left flank has attracted interest from multiple clubs in the country. Four Premier League giants are interested in the 22-year-old.

English giants keen on Ait-Nouri

While his contract with Wolves runs until the summer of 2026, he is unlikely to stay there beyond the upcoming summer transfer window. Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are all keen on his signatures.

Luke Shaw has struggled with injuries as a result, the Red Devils are looking for more depth. Ian Maatsen is expected to take charge as a left-back at Chelsea next season once he returns from his loan spell but the Blues need someone who can compete with him and Ait-Nouri is their target.

Meanwhile, Manchester City don’t have much depth in the full-back department. They have been forced to use centre-backs in that position and could move for the Wolves defender. While City, Chelsea and United are all keen, they are behind Liverpool in the race.

Liverpool front-runners in Rayan Ait-Nouri’s pursuit

They are looking for someone who can strengthen the left side of their defence. Someone who can support Virgil van Dijk who features as the left-sided centre-back. While they do have quality left-back options in their ranks, the Merseyside club wants to prepare themselves for the future.

Andrew Robertson is amongst the best left-backs but he is already 30 and has struggled with injuries of late. Joe Gomez could feature as a left-back but they want to have someone who is a bit more attacking and Ait-Nouri fits the bill.

Jurgen Klopp might be leaving the club but he has already given the green light to this move. The player’s representatives have said that the Reds are the most serious in their pursuit of the 22-year-old’s signatures.
