Gavi does not want to leave Barcelona anytime soon amid interest from PSG, with the Spanish wonderkid happy at the Catalan club.

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano on the Daily Briefing, Gavi is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 champions are in the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. However, the Barcelona wonderkid is happy at the Catalan club, with the Blaugrana not interested in a sale either.

The Rise and Rise of Gavi

Pablo Martin Paez Gavira, better known as Gavi, has taken his opportunities with both hands since graduating to the first-team squad at FC Barcelona. The Catalan giants have had to dip into the youth division and the reserve side to bolster the first-team squad amid their never-ending financial mess.

The 19-year-old has been one of over half a dozen prospects to break into the first-team squad at the Catalan club. The youngster took no time to establish a foothold in the senior setup, with his market value skyrocketing to €90 million. However, Gavi’s progress has slowed down this season due to the season-ending knee injury he picked up while representing Spain several months ago.

The teenage sensation will likely return to action next season, with representing Spain at UEFA Euro 2024 out of the question. Meanwhile, despite missing most of the 2023/24 season, Gavi’s stock remains high, with several high-profile clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, keen on securing his services in the summer transfer window.

PSG Interested

PSG’s interest in Gavi is understandable. While the Ligue 1 champions have heavily bolstered their midfield unit in the last few summer transfer windows, the department does not look world-class. With Carlos Soler and Fabian Ruiz facing an uncertain future at Parc des Princes, PSG can do with a new midfielder.

Gavi has thus emerged as a viable target for PSG. However, Barcelona will unlikely entertain any offers for the 19-year-old Spanish international in the summer transfer window. In addition, the youngster does not intend to part ways with the reigning La Liga champions anytime soon.

The teenage sensation is happy at the Catalan club and remains committed to his team. So, PSG will have to look elsewhere to bolster the midfield department in the summer transfer window, with the Barcelona wonderkid not going anywhere.
