Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on signing 19-year-old Barcelona player Mikayil Faye in the summer, with a sale possible.

According to Tutto Juve, Arsenal and Chelsea have a definitive interest in Mikayil Faye in the summer. The 19-year-old Barcelona player could leave the Spanish giants should he feel the need to start playing more regularly elsewhere.

Arsenal Chelsea in Mikayil Faye hunt

Mikayil Faye could become an exciting story in the context of Barcelona’s summer plans. The 19-year-old defender has been in the news for quite some time following a surprise call-up to the Senegal national side during the most recent international break.

Barcelona are already mulling over a sale of their talent, especially as some clubs are ready to pay decent money for his services. Arsenal and Chelsea have joined the hunt now, with the Gunners probably the surprise contenders here.

Faye might want to see a pathway to success in the first team at Barcelona, but the presence of many quality defenders ahead of him could block his way to the senior squad. Hence, he might consider leaving Barcelona in the summer, but only if he can stake a place in the main team at the other club.

Considering how stacked Arsenal and Chelsea are in terms of defensive quality, Faye might find it difficult to say yes to those sides. Chelsea are part of a massive group of admirers that also includes Girona and Juventus. RC Lens from France are also keen and reportedly saw an approach rejected by Barcelona in the summer.

Will Barcelona sell Faye?

Barcelona have obvious financial trouble in the background, that may see them struggle to bring some of their preferred transfer targets in the summer. Hence, they could sell some of their present first-team stars and also someone like Faye.
Alternatively, they could build his profile in the first team, although there are suggestions they could sell now with a sell-on clause or other options that could see them benefit with the player in the future. In truth, they might sell, but only for a fee that suits their asking price and not give away the teenager cheaply.
