Girona and Juventus are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old Barcelona sensation Mikayil Faye, a target for Chelsea.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Mikayil Faye is gaining popularity in the market heading into the summer transfer window. Girona and Juventus are vying for the signature of the 19-year-old Barcelona defensive sensation. The youngster is also a target for Chelsea.

Mikayil Faye and his Rise

Mikayil Faye has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the world since arriving in Europe. A native of Sedhiou, he spent most of his formative years in his homeland before joining NK Kustosija last year. However, the Senegalese international only spent a few months at the Croatian club, with several bigwigs showing interest in him last summer.

Barcelona eventually won the race to secure Faye’s services, signing him in a deal worth €1.5 million. The 19-year-old has represented Barcelona Atletic thus far this season, scoring four goals in 25 appearances thus far for the reserve side. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Chelsea, Girona and Juventus.

A Man in Demand

Chelsea tried signing Faye in last summer’s transfer window before losing to Barcelona due to small margins. The Blues remain keen on signing the teenage sensation as they scour the market for a long-term successor to Thiago Silva. The veteran Brazilian defender will likely leave Chelsea as a free agent in the summer transfer window.

As for Girona, the Catalan outfit will see Eric Garcia returning to Barcelona in the summer transfer window after spending the 2023/24 season on loan at Estadi Montilivi. So, a spot in the defensive unit should open up, paving the way for Mikayil Faye to potentially arrive at the club.

Meanwhile, Juventus can do with a top-class centre-back in the summer transfer window amid the inconsistent performances of the defensive unit this season. Faye has thus emerged as a viable target for the Serie A giants. Meanwhile, Barcelona might cash in on the 19-year-old in the summer transfer window due to a never-ending financial mess.

So, Chelsea, Girona, Juventus, and other suitors have hope as they pursue Faye for a potential move in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if he leaves the Catalan outfit after only one season.
