Inter Milan might have the chance to sign 29-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Inter Live, Kepa Arrizabalaga will unlikely continue at Chelsea beyond the summer transfer window. Real Madrid will not complete a permanent move for the 29-year-old goalkeeper. But Inter Milan might have the chance to sign him from the West London club.

Kepa Arrizabalaga and his Real Madrid journey

Kepa Arrizabalaga has endured a frustrating 2023/24 campaign since joining Real Madrid on loan from Chelsea last summer. The Spaniard jumped at the prospect of representing Los Blancos and began his spell with the current La Liga table-toppers. However, his stock has plummeted in the last few months.

An untimely injury hampered Kepa’s prospects, with Andriy Lunin usurping him as the first-choice goalkeeper. Since then, the Ukrainian international has been the primary shot-stopper for Real Madrid, with Los Blancos looking to tie him to a new contract in the coming months.

As for Kepa, the Spanish international has managed only 18 appearances thus far this season, keeping seven clean sheets while conceding 18 goals. However, his stint with Real Madrid will likely end in the summer transfer window, with the Merengues unlikely to complete a permanent move. Chelsea might not retain his services either, but his next destination might be Inter Milan.

Serie A move on the cards?

Inter Milan signed Yann Sommer to replace Andre Onana last summer. The Swiss goalkeeper completed a low-cost move to San Siro after leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the 2022/23 season. While the veteran shot-stopper has been excellent between the sticks, he is well into his thirties and approaching the end of his career.

So, signing Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea might be a sensible call for Inter Milan, keeping in mind the long-term future. However, it is unclear if the Serie A giants are ready to take the offer to sign the 29-year-old goalkeeper from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea will unlikely keep hold of Kepa beyond the summer transfer window amid the club’s links with several goalkeepers, including Bento. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the Spanish international after he returns to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid.
