Liverpool are lining up a move for PSV Eindhoven winger and long-term target Johan Bakayoko in a €25 million deal.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are angling a move for Johan Bakayoko in the summer. The Merseysiders have tracked the PSV Eindhoven winger for a long time and could make their move, with the Eredivisie team reportedly looking for at least €25 million for the Belgian star.

Liverpool keen on Johan Bakayoko

Liverpool have tracked Johan Bakayoko for a long time, and he was widely expected to make a move last summer. Jurgen Klopp had other more pressing priorities on his mind, which may have forced him to push the winger’s signing for the future. However, with the German set to leave Liverpool, there have been some doubts about whether the club will look away from some of his targets.

Bakayoko remains a feature on their shortlist of young rising stars, meaning a move could well be possible in the summer. PSV are seeking at least €25 million to allow the winger, who has 21 goal contributions this season, to depart for Liverpool or some other club.

Liverpool are hoping to revive their good relations with PSV to broker a deal for the Belgian winger. At first, there were suggestions the Merseysiers were considering Bakayoko as a direct replacement for Salah, although the winger might be seen as a solid addition to their squad rather than the successor to the Egyptian.

Liverpool are intent on signing Bakayoko, and considering they might have done some groundwork on the winger since registering an interest, it does put them in the bracket of front runners. However, should PSV declare they are willing to part ways with their attacker with 21 goal contributions this season, many other interested sides are also likely to enter the conversation.

Liverpool have competition for Bakayoko

Liverpool might be seen as the favourites to land Bakayoko in the summer, but they are not alone in the race. Manchester United held an interest, while Chelsea are also keen on the winger. His performances for PSV have made him a big target for some of those sides keen on investing in a young attacker, which has put the Blues and Liverpool in the hunt.

Chelsea, in particular, have a policy of buying young rising stars and developing them in the Premier League and other competitions. Hence, should Liverpool go with an intent for the winger, the Blues might provide stern competition for the PSV star’s signature.
