Premier League champions Manchester City recently sent scouts to watch Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in action for Serie A counterparts Napoli.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions are considering signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Napoli forward is also a target for Liverpool and will cost around £85 million.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and his Napoli Ride

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester City from Dinamo Batumi in July 2022. The Georgian international played an instrumental role in helping Napoli end a wait of over three decades to win the Serie A title last season. But he has blown hot and cold this term.

The 23-year-old has signified his team’s inconsistency this season with his blow-hot-blow-cold displays. But he has recovered well in the last few weeks to have a solid tally of 16 goal contributions in 37 appearances across all competitions. Kvaratskhelia has found the back of the net ten times while providing six assists thus far.

Despite being inconsistent this season, Kvaratskhelia remains on the radar of several high-profile clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League, in particular, might be on the horizon, with Manchester City recently sending scouts to watch him in action. In addition, the Napoli attacker is a target for Liverpool.

Premier League Calling?

Manchester City’s interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is understandable. Pep Guardiola is known for his ruthlessness, and Jack Grealish faces an uncertain future at the Etihad after a sub-par 2023/24 campaign thus far. So, it is hardly surprising that several other wide attackers, including Pedro Neto, have emerged on Manchester City’s radar.

As for Liverpool, the Reds are in a spot of bother over Mohamed Salah’s future. While the Egyptian international has verbally committed his future to the Merseyside club, anything is possible this summer. Kvaratskhelia has thus emerged as a viable target for Liverpool. But he will not come cheap, with Napoli demanding around £85 million to sell him.

Manchester City and Liverpool (if Salah leaves) should have the financial capacity to pay £85 million to secure Kvaratskhelia’s services. But Napoli will likely fight hard to keep hold of the Georgian international beyond the summer transfer window, with the Serie A champions being tough negotiators.
