According to Spanish journalist Rodra P, Marcos Parriego is closing in on joining Barcelona. Real Madrid and Manchester City were also interested in signing the 18-year-old playmaker from Rayo Vallecano. But the reigning La Liga champions have won the race to sign the teenage creative sensation.
Who is Marcos Parriego?
Marcos Parriego is one of the brightest young prospects in Spain. A native of Soto del Real, he has represented Real Madrid in his youth career. But the Spaniard has risen in prominence during his spell with Rayo Vallecano, with the club signing him after Los Blancos released him.
Also known as Parri, the 18-year-old has gone from strength to strength at Rayo Vallecano and currently turns out for the club’s Juvenil A side. Meanwhile, Parriego’s progress during his stint with Rayo Vallecano has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester City.
Barcelona and Real Madrid regularly lock horns in the market for the brightest young prospects, with the two La Liga heavyweights locking horns for Endrick, Neymar, and Pablo Torres before they joined either club. The Spanish bigwigs also traded blows in the race to sign Gui Ruck, who will likely join Flamengo.
Barcelona Set to Sign Parri
Recent reports have claimed that Alvaro Gomez is closing in on joining Barcelona. They have now won the race to sign Marcos Parriego, beating Real Madrid and Manchester City to his signature. The report suggests the 18-year-old Spanish creative sensation picked the Blaugrana due to a better offer and an attractive sporting project.
Intriguingly, Barcelona offered more than Manchester City, with the Premier League champions also having an appealing project. But the treble winners have lost the race to sign the Spaniard, with Real Madrid also falling behind Barcelona.
