Chelsea’s 19-year-old defensive midfielder Andrey Santos is closing in on a deadline-day loan move to RC Strasbourg.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea were keen on finding Andrey Santos a new club before the end of the transfer window, and they have decided to send him out on loan to their sister club RC Strasbourg. The transfer is in the final stages and should be complete in the next few hours.

Andrey Santos In Need of Some Inspiration

Santos came up the ranks at Brazilian club Vasco da Gama and made quite a name for himself. His impressive rise and huge potential attracted the attention of Chelsea, who signed him in the winter of 2023. The teenager was allowed to stay at the Brazilian club on loan, and he made the switch.

While the Brazil Under-23 star has huge potential, Mauricio Pochettino feels he is not ready to be a part of their first team yet. As a result, Chelsea loaned him out to fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest for the 2023/24 season. But, that move was cut short by Chelsea.

They decided to recall him as the Tricky Trees were not giving any first-team action. In his six-month-long stay at the club, Santos only made two appearances. Only seven minutes of Premier League action frustrated the Blues, and they decided to find a new location for their 19-year-old sensation.

Ligue 1 Loan Move On the Cards

The solution that Chelsea have decided to settle on is to move the Brazilian youth international to their sister club Strasbourg. The French club already have Angelo Gabriel on loan from Chelsea and are now in advanced talks to land the 19-year-old before the end of the window.

Since Strasbourg are also owned by Todd Boehly, Santos are expected to have enough first-team action there. Angelo is playing an important role, and there are hopes that the 19-year-old defensive midfielder will also have a similar role.

The talks are in the final stage, and there should be an official confirmation soon. It will be a straightforward loan deal until the end of the season without any option to buy. Since Santos has not featured for Chelsea in any competitive matches on either side of his spell with Nottingham, he is eligible to join another club at the end of the season, and Strasbourg are more than happy to welcome him.
