Manchester United will only make any move for Brian Brobbey in the summer rather than this month, as Erik ten Hag wants him at Old Trafford.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United will shelve their plans for Brian Brobbey now and make a foray in the summer. The Ajax forward remains a part of Erik ten Hag’s shortlist, with the Dutch manager ready to sanction a reunion with the 21-year-old forward.

Manchestrer United’s summer move for Brian Brobbey

Erik ten Hag had wanted a new forward this month but had hoped for Anthony Martial to depart. The Frenchman has entered the final six months of his contract and remains on a substantial 250,000-a-week wage package, meaning his departure could have freed up space and room in the financial books.

While Martial attracted substantial interest this month, an injury might have prevented a move away, as the forward recovers from a groin operation and will remain sidelined for around 10 weeks. Hence, Manchester United have shelved any plans to bring a new forward in January and instead make a move in the summer, when Martial departs.

Ajax star Brian Brobbey remains high on Ten Hag’s shortlist, with the Dutchman reportedly wanting the forward this month. With the change in plans from the club, the former Ajax boss will look forward to a reunion next summer.

Brobbey remains keen on joining Manchester United and will jump at the opportunity if the club comes with an offer. He was a big part of the Ajax side under Ten Hag during the Dutchman’s last season and has continued his impressive form this time, although the team has faltered badly.

Brobbey will join Manchester United over other suitors.

Brobbey has continually attracted the interest of some top clubs, including Arsenal. Mikel Arteta also rates the 21-year-old forward, as the Gunners themselves are seeking a different centre-forward to the options they currently have.

Newcastle United also held an interest in Brobbey, with Eddie Howe looking at a future replacement for Callum Wilson. Dominic Solanke remains high on the Magpies list, but the Ajax star could well become an option, however, the 21-year-old forward wants only Manchester United.

For starters, he would like to reunite with his former boss at Ajax, and secondly, he is eager to join the club as a dream. Hence, if Manchester United go there with an offer, he would join them over other clubs.
