The Rise and Rise of Lucas Bergvall

Lucas Bergvall continues to see his stock rise on a daily basis. The Swedish wonderkid has come leaps and bounds in the last 12 months. He was already a first-team player as a 16-year-old when he was at IF Brommapojkarna. But his star has soared since joining Djurgardens IF in February 2023.

The 17-year-old has turned out 29 times thus far for Djurgardens IF, chipping in with three goals and one assist. He has also broken into his national team, making his international debut this month. Meanwhile, Bergvall’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.

Manchester City Enter Lucas Bergvall Chase

Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Swedish international. And the latest update from talkSPORT has revealed that Lucas Bergvall has emerged as a target for Manchester City. Meanwhile, Barcelona will also look to secure his services, having submitted a bid worth €6 million.

Barcelona’s interest in Bergvall is hardly surprising, considering the club’s youth-driven project under Xavi Hernandez. While the reigning La Liga champions have signed a few experienced players in the last few transfer windows, their financial issues have contributed to it. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old midfield prodigy is keen on joining Barcelona.

While Barcelona’s bid worth €6 million is lower than Eintracht Frankfurt’s offer of €10 million. But with the youngster preferring Barcelona, a move to Catalonia might be on the cards. But Manchester City might have something to say about that. The Premier League champions have not shied away from grooming young prospects, with Phil Foden and Rico Henry thriving under Pep Guardiola.

However, a report by Gianluigi Longari has revealed that talks between Barcelona and Djurgardens IF have advanced. So, Manchester City should intensify the efforts to sign Lucas Bergvall if they want to beat Barcelona to his signature.
