Manchester United No Longer Pursuing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

The Red Devils do not want sign expensive players who are in the twilight stages of their careers. Also, they are hoping to bring in someone on a loan deal, and Bayern Munich will not allow Choupo-Moting to leave on loan.

The striker’s contract with the German club expires at the end of the season, and they will be hoping to sell him for a nominal price this month. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United decide to move on to other targets after ending their interest in Choupo-Moting. They have been linked with Timo Werner as well.

Manchester United Need a Striker

It is no secret that Manchester United need to sign a quality goalscorer. Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund and have not been at their best this season. So, they need to bring in a reliable finisher before the January transfer window closes. Hojlund is still quite young, and he will need time to hit top form in English football.

They have had a disappointing season by their standards so far and will be desperate for Champions League qualification. Missing out on a top-four finish will be a devastating blow for them, and they need to plug the weaknesses in their squad in order to finish the season strongly.

Choupo-Moting could have been a useful short term acquisition for them, but the Red Devils are simply not keen on the idea. They have been linked with VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy as well. The 27-year-old has been in splendid form in the Bundesliga, and he could be available for a nominal price because of a release clause in his contract as well.

Manchester United were expected to compete for the league title this season. But they have been quite mediocre and they will need to ensure that they bounced back strongly during the second half of the season. They need to get their transfer business right to get the season back on track.
