Aston Villa will reportedly compete with Brighton & Hove Albion for 22-year-old Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville.

According to a report by Football Insider, Crysencio Summerville is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans view the 22-year-old winger as a long-term target. But a move in the January transfer window is unlikely, with Leeds United not ready to entertain any offers to sell him.

Who is Crysencio Summerville?

Crysencio Summerville is a native of Rotterdam and spent his formative years in his homeland. The Dutch attacker rose through the ranks at Feyenoord but could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the club. Instead, he rose in prominence after joining Leeds United in September 2020.

The 22-year-old had to wait for a year to break into the first-team squad at Elland Road. But he has not looked back since then, becoming a pivotal figure for Leeds United in the last 12 months. Summerville is enjoying an excellent 2023/24 campaign, in particular, contributing to 18 goals in 24 appearances thus far.

The young winger has found the back of the net 12 times while providing six assists. Summerville’s progress at Leeds United has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many Premier League clubs. Newcastle United and Crystal Palace were keen on signing him in the summer transfer window. He has now emerged as a target for Aston Villa.

Aston Villa Interested

Aston Villa can do with an offensive reinforcement as they look to rise in stature in the English football pyramid. The Villans depend on Ollie Watkins to deliver the goods in the final third, with no other attacker being prolific enough to take the burden off him. So, it is hardly surprising that Aston Villa might look to bolster the attacking unit this year.

Recent reports have linked the Midlands outfit with Cyril Ngonge. But Crysencio Summerville is also a viable target, considering his experience of English football. However, a January move is unlikely, with Leeds United not interested in entertaining any offers for the 22-year-old Dutch winger.

Apart from Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion are also interested in signing Summerville. But a move for the Dutchman will have to wait until the summer transfer window, with Leeds eager to retain his services to return to the Premier League.
