Aston Villa and Serie A club Hellas Verona have reportedly sealed the agreement over a deal for 23-year-old Belgian winger Cyril Ngonge.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Cyril Ngonge has been the subject of interest from Aston Villa in the last few weeks. And the Villans have sealed the agreement to sign the 23-year-old Hellas Verona winger. The Serie A outfit verbally accepted an offer worth €10 million from the Midlands outfit.

Who is Cyril Ngonge?

Cyril Ngonge has come leaps and bounds since joining Hellas Verona FC Groningen in January 2023. The Belgian winger has been one of the most underrated wingers in Serie A in the last 12 months. And he has enjoyed a solid 2023/24 campaign thus far, even though his team has blown hot and cold.

The Mastiffs are fighting the battle to stave off relegation. But Ngonge has made his mark, chipping in with five goals and two assists in 17 Serie A appearances. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old has captured the attention of many well-known clubs, including Aston Villa, with his performances for Hellas Verona.

Aston Villa Calling?

The Villans have gone from strength to strength under the tutelage of Unai Emery. The Spanish manager has transformed the Midlands outfit into a darkhorse contender for the Premier League title. Emery has done that by breathing new life into the Aston Villa attack since his arrival.

But Emery will do well to take the goalscoring burden off Ollie Watkins and ensure the other Aston Villa attackers can share the load with the English international. So, it is hardly surprising that the Villans want to bolster their offensive unit in the January transfer window, with Cyril Ngonge emerging as a viable target.

Aston Villa and Hellas Verona have taken no time to ramp up the talks, with the two clubs already sealing an agreement over a possible deal. Aston Villa will pay the Serie A outfit €10 million to land the 23-year-old winger this month.

The Mastiffs have verbally accepted Aston Villa’s offer. So, the deal is not set in stone yet. But one would imagine that Cyril Ngonge will likely end his stint with Hellas Verona this month, with a move to Villa Park on the cards.
