Manchester United keen on signing Oscar Zambrano

Manchester United are reportedly in a three-way battle for the signature of 19-year-old LDU Quito midfielder Oscar Zambrano.

According to a report by El Futbolero, Oscar Zambrano is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils view the 19-year-old LDU Quito midfielder as the “next Moises Caicedo”. And they are competing with fellow Premier League clubs Luton Town and Brighton & Hove Albion in a three-way battle.

Who is Oscar Zambrano?

Oscar Zambrano is one of the brightest young prospects in South America. The Ecuadorian midfielder has risen through the ranks at LDU Quito and made his first-team debut nearly two years ago. He broke into the senior setup in April 2022 and has grown considerably since then.

The 19-year-old has turned out nearly 50 times thus far for LDU Quito, chipping in with a goal and an assist. In addition, Zambrano is on the cusp of making his debut for Ecuador’s national side. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.

Widespread reports in the summer transfer window linked him with Barcelona as the Blaugrana sought a clever solution to the defensive midfield position. But a move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Manchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Luton Town waging a three-way battle in England.

Manchester United Want to Sign the “Next Moises Caicedo”

Manchester United have dubbed Oscar Zambrano the “next Moises Caicedo”. Interestingly, the 19-year-old began his youth career in the same academy as Caicedo, Colorados Jaipadida. Manchester United were keen on signing Caicedo before he joined Brighton & Hove Albion. But Ed Woodward decided against the move, even though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted him.

The Premier League heavyweights now do not want to lose the race to sign the “next Moises Caicedo”. They are among three top-flight clubs keen on securing his services this year. The report has claimed that Old Trafford will be a potential destination for Oscar Zambrano.

It will be interesting to see if Luton Town or Brighton & Hove Albion can beat Manchester United to Zambrano’s signature. Old Trafford will be an attractive destination, considering Casemiro faces an uncertain future at the club.
