Crystal Palace and Fulham are reportedly interested in signing in-form 26-year-old Spanish striker Borja Mayoral from Getafe.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Borja Mayoral is gaining popularity in the market in the wake of his performances in the ongoing season. Crystal Palace and Fulham are among the clubs interested in the in-form 26-year-old striker. Meanwhile, Getafe will demand around £12 million to part ways with him. But a move in the January transfer window is not on the cards.

Who is Borja Mayoral?

Borja Mayoral has found a stable footing in his career since joining Getafe from Real Madrid. A graduate of Los Blancos’ fabled youth division, the Spaniard made his first-team debut for them in October 2015. But regular game time eluded him at Real Madrid, and he embarked on many loan spells before landing at Getafe.

The Azulones had initially signed Mayoral on loan before completing a permanent deal in August 2022. Since then, the 26-year-old has come leaps and bounds, establishing himself as one of the best strikers in La Liga. The former Real Madrid striker is enjoying a solid 2023/24 campaign, amassing 14 goals and one assist in 20 appearances thus far.

Mayoral’s progress at Getafe has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen, with Crystal Palace and Fulham interested the in-form Spanish striker.

Premier League Move on the Cards?

Crystal Palace will likely delve into the market for a striker next year. Odsonne Edouard and Jean-Philippe Mateta have flattered to deceive during their respective stints with the South London club. The Eagles have thus shown interest in many strikers, including Odsonne Edouard. But Borja Mayoral is also a viable target for Crystal Palace.

As for Fulham, the Cottagers replaced Aleksandar Mitrovic with Raul Jimenez this past summer. But the Mexican international has blown hot and cold, although his form has improved in the last few weeks. So, it behoves Fulham to invest in a striker, with Akor Adams recently emerging as a target. But Mayoral is also an option worth considering.

Getafe will demand around £12 million to part ways with the in-form Spanish striker. But a move in the January transfer window is not on the cards as the Azulones look to mount a challenge for European qualification. It will be interesting to see how this story evolves in the coming months.
