Manchester United eyeing January move for Mauro Icardi

Manchester United could plot a surprise loan move for Argentine forward Mauro Icardi, who could seek a new challenge away from Galatasaray.

According to Football Transfers, Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Mauro Icardi on loan in January. The surprise move comes after Erik ten Hag urgently sought a new goalscoring option in his forward line as the Argentine forward remains open to a new challenge away from Galatasaray.

Galatasaray will indeed feel they made the right decision to sign Mauro Icardi from PSG. The Argentine forward made his move permanent during the summer, as the Turkish side decided to pay €10 million for his signature.
In turn, Icardi has produced the goods in the striker’s role, with 23 goal involvement in 25 games across all comeptitions. The Argentine forward was also a star performer earlier in the season at Old Trafford, helping his team beat Manchester United, who are incidentally interested in him.

Erik ten Hag urgently needs a new forward to enhance his attacking options, with several names present on their shortlist. They have constantly seen links to Serhou Guirassy, the Stuttgart forward with a £15 million release clause.

Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund failed to score for a thirteenth game running in the Premier League. Many have pointed towards the lack of service for the Danish international, while others have urged Ten Hag to sign someone to ease the pressure on the 20-year-old.

They also have links to another forward in Lois Openda, but the operation for the RB Leipzig star would set Manchester United back financially. Hence, the club is mindful of their January expenditure, especially after FFP concerns since the summer.

Icardi has attracted the attention of Real Madrid, although the Spanish side may not make a move. However, his numbers are excellent this season, which could prompt Manchester United to consider a transfer. The report mentions a loan move for the Argentine forward, which could come with a buy option.

While Galatasaray would hate losing their prolific star, they could make a handsome profit on their investment at the end of the season. The Turkish side would undoubtedly include a lucrative buy option in any deal

Manchester United tries to make, and I hope the Argentine forward performs to his level there.
Icardi is also eager to take on another challenge in his career. He had links to Manchester United before, and this time, there’s a chance to join the Red Devils and take his game to the next level.
