Manchester United will have to break the bank to acquire the services of 23-year-old RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manchester United are keen on bolstering their attacker and have their eyes set on Lois Openda. The 23-year-old has been in sensational form in the ongoing season and the interest in his services is at an all-time high.

Openda had an exceptional season last time out with Lens in Ligue 1. His impressive performances resulted in a move to RB Leipzig in the summer. The Belgian international has carried on in a similar fashion in the 2023-24 season. He has featured in 22 matches and has 17 goal contributions. He has already scored 14 goals since moving to Germany,

His impressive performances have attracted a lot of attention and Manchester United are one of the clubs that seem very keen on having him in their ranks. The Red Devils are keen on attacking reinforcement, Erik ten Hag wants to sign another number nine who can complement summer signing Rasmus Hojlund.

Anthony Martial is all set to part ways with the club in the summer when his contract runs out. As a result, they do need another number nine and Openda is one of the names on their list. Scouts of the Red Devils have been watching him closely in his Champions League games and they are quite impressed with what they have seen.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag is also a big admirer of the 23-year-old and he would love to have the Belgian international in his ranks. The signing of a top-quality forward could be a great sign for the things to come as Sir Jim Ratcliffe will soon complete the purchase of a minority stake at the club. He is expected to make two or three big signings and Openda surely fits the bill.

While the Red Devils are keen on having him in their ranks, Leipzig have no intentions of selling him anytime soon having signed him in the summer for £30 million. A move in the winter has been ruled out but the amount of interest suggests a big move next summer could be on the cards.

There is a £70 million release clause in his contract but it is only valid from the summer of 2025. As a result, the Red Devils will have to fork out more than that to land him at the club ahead of next season.
