Serie A champions Napoli recently approached Real Madrid to discuss the possibility of signing Brahim Diaz, but the Merengues have rejected them.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Brahim Diaz is the subject of interest from Napoli. The Serie A champions approached Real Madrid to submit an enquiry for the in-form playmaker. But the Merengues have turned the Italian giants down and want to keep the 24-year-old.

Brahim Diaz and a Career of Frustrations

Brahim Diaz has struggled to stamp his authority since joining Real Madrid from Manchester City nearly half a decade ago. The Spanish international thought he would secure a quicker pathway to regular first-team minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu. But he has not featured prominently for Real Madrid in the last five years.

The 24-year-old spent the last three seasons on loan at AC Milan, where he blew hot and cold. But Diaz was a pivotal figure for the Rossoneri and won the Serie A title with them. AC Milan wanted to complete a permanent deal in the summer transfer window, but Real Madrid did not part ways with him.

The decision has not paid off for the playmaker, who has managed only 417 minutes of game time thus far this term. But fitness issues plaguing the Real Madrid squad have come as a blessing for him, and he has three goals and one assist in 13 outings. However, Diaz’s Real Madrid future is uncertain amid his struggles for game time.

Serie A Calling Again?

Recent reports have linked him with many well-known Premier League clubs. Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan are also interested. The latest update has added another bigwig to the list of suitors, with Napoli joining the race to sign the in-form 24-year-old playmaker.

The Serie A champions are in a spot of bother over Piotr Zielinski’s long-term future. The Polish international has entered the last year of his contract with Napoli and might leave as a free agent. Brahim Diaz has thus emerged as a viable target, and the Partenopei recently approached Real Madrid to discuss a possible move.

But the Mernegues have rebuffed the enquiry and will not part ways with the 24-year-old anytime soon. Recent reports have also pointed to Diaz’s frustrations reducing after securing more game time. So, a summer departure might not be on the cards, with Napoli set for disappointment.
