Serie A giants AC Milan will reportedly look to re-sign 24-year-old Real Madrid playmaker Brahim Diaz on loan in the January transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Brahim Diaz is the subject of interest from AC Milan. The Serie A giants are considering delving into the market for an offensive reinforcement in the January transfer window. The 24-year-old Real Madrid playmaker has thus emerged as a viable target for the Rossoneri.

Brahim Diaz has been with Real Madrid for nearly half a decade, arriving from Manchester City in January 2019. But he has yet to establish a foothold at the Santiago Bernabeu since arriving from England. That is despite having a reasonably successful three-year loan stint with AC Milan between 2020 and 2023.

While the 24-year-old was not prolific at San Siro, he remained a pivotal figure throughout his loan spell. But Diaz’s time at AC Milan ended this past summer as he returned to Real Madrid. But the player has struggled for game time thus far this season, managing only 119 minutes of action across nine appearances.

The situation will unlikely improve, with Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Joselu, and Jude Bellingham ahead of him in the pecking order. With his career headed nowhere at Real Madrid, something has to give heading into the January transfer window. AC Milan might look to secure Diaz’s services this winter.

The Serie A giants are in a spot of bother after a few sub-par performances in the last few weeks. In addition, Stefano Pioli will lose Samuel Chukwueze for nearly two months due to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. So, it behoves AC Milan to delve into the market for an offensive reinforcement heading into the January transfer window.

Diaz’s situation thus comes as good news for the Rossoneri, who will look to sign him on loan in the January transfer window. Meanwhile, Real Madrid might not stand in the player’s way, especially if he pushes for a departure.

But the Serie A giants will likely face stiff competition from Premier League clubs, with Aston Villa and West Ham United interested in him. But a return to familiar comforts might bode well for the struggling 24-year-old if the opportunity to return to AC Milan presents itself.
