Real Madrid will reportedly ramp up the efforts to sign 18-year-old Lille defender Leny Yoro, a target for Chelsea, Manchester United, and Barcelona.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Leny Yoro is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are ready to step up their efforts to sign the 18-year-old defender. Meanwhile, the Lille prodigy is also a target for Chelsea, Manchester United, and Barcelona.

Leny Yoro is the latest prodigious prospect to emerge from the factory of talented youngsters in France. A native of Saint-Maurice, he passed through the academies at UJA Alfortville and Villeneuve d’Ascq Metropole before joining Lille in 2017. And he has come leaps and bounds in the last half a dozen years.

The 18-year-old made his first-team debut for Lille towards the end of the 2021/22 season. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength and is now a regular for Les Dogues. Yoro has turned out 18 times thus far this year, chipping in with three goals. Meanwhile, the Frenchman’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

Premier League bigwigs constantly scour the market for young prospects, with several arriving on the shores of England every year. So, it is hardly surprising that Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Yoro. The Blues have heavily invested in young defenders in the last few transfer windows.

So, it is unclear how Leny Yoro might fit into the scheme of things at Chelsea. On the other hand, Manchester United can do with a young centre-back amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Raphael Varane. So, Yoro is a viable target. As for Barcelona, the 18-year-old might get lost in the shuffle, considering Xavi Hernandez has two world-class centre-backs in his squad.

So, Real Madrid might be Yoro’s best solution, considering Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are on the wrong side of 30. And the Merengues are ready to step up their efforts to sign the 18-year-old French wonderkid. That might blow the competition out of the water.

But Chelsea, Manchester United, and Barcelona are also attractive destinations. So, it will be interesting to see if any of those clubs can beat Real Madrid to the signature of Leny Yoro next year.
