Chelsea are hoping to get closer to agreeing a new deal with Conor Gallagher after the 23-year-old midfield ace’s impressive season so far.

According to Team Talk, Chelsea could push towards agreeing on a new deal with Conor Gallagher before the turn of the year. The midfielder has impressed under Mauricio Pochettino, who now considers him a sure starter in his teams.

Chelsea spent a bucket-load on midfielders during the summer, including a club-record deal for Moises Caicedo and splashing close to £60 million on Romeo Lavia. The latter has yet to make an appearance for the club amid injury struggles since signing from Southampton.

His absence allowed Chelsea to reevaluate the situation with Conor Gallagher, who had late interest coming from West Ham and Tottenham. The latter reportedly found out a £50 million valuation placed by the Blues and pondered making an offer.

Gallagher, who comes from a family of Chelsea supporters, remains utterly focused on his ambitions to grow with the club. After his future got resolved with the closure of the transfer window, the 23-year-old ace has remained eager to sign a new deal.

Gallagher has always wanted to succeed at Stamford Bridge and has done nothing wrong with his performances this season. Mauricio Pochettino has come to trust the midfielder by giving him the keys to his midfield. The 23-year-old has been the better performer over Enzo Fernandez and Caicedo so far this term, as he could receive a formal contract offer from the club.

Amid reports that Chelsea had advanced, they have yet to make an offer for Gallagher to extend his contract. Initially, they were hesitant to rush towards offering him a lucrative new deal. Now, the club are reportedly convinced that he deserves a more extended stay at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are ready to step up contract talks with Gallagher and hope to reach an agreement with their homegrown star to extend his stay. The midfielder will indeed consider proposals from the club on the table, but he would surely want a vital contract to sign anything long-term.

Chelsea will hope there’s no repeat of the Mason Mount situation. Gallagher has proved with his performances that he deserves a new deal at the club. The Blues are hoping to wrap up this conversation by the turn of the year. Meaning Gallagher’s long-term future could get resolved in under four weeks or so.
