Chelsea are yet to offer a new deal to their 23-year-old academy graduate Conor Gallagher, who is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Conor Gallagher has been doing wonders for Chelsea in the ongoing season. But his future at the West London club is still not certain. While reports suggest that he is very close to penning down a new contract, the 23-year-old, a target for Tottenham, has not been offered a new deal yet.
Gallagher has been at Chelsea since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at the club and has been subject to multiple loan moves over the years. The Englishman made it to their first team in the summer of 2022. He played an important role in his very first full season.
However, the Chelsea graduate was expected to part ways with the club ahead of the ongoing season. The Blues were ready to offload him. Tottenham Hotspur were keen on having him in their ranks, and they were in talks with the Blues on transfer deadline day.
But, a deal could not be struck between the two parties as Chelsea wanted £45 million. Gallagher could not secure a move away from the club in the summer, and the arrival of Romeo Lavia meant he might not get enough game time.
But injuries to Lavia have resulted in him getting a lot of game time. He has featured in all of their 12 Premier League matches and has become a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s team. The 23-year-old is now keen on extending his stay at the club.
While Gallagher has become an important of their first team of late, the Blues are yet to offer him a new deal. There has been no progress made on that front. And, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2025, there is a lot of interest in his services. The Blues are unlikely to sell him in the winter because of the kind of impact he has had so far.
But, clubs could knock on their door in the summer of 2024 for the England international. Spurs still remain interested in his services. They are looking to add more depth as well as quality to their ranks. And, Gallagher has been on their radar for a while now. The 23-year-old has all the qualities to fit into their system, and he could end up being a great acquisition for the club.
