Crystal Palace will not sell Marc Guehi in the January transfer window, thus handing a blow to Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham are interested in Marc Guehi. But Crystal Palace will not part ways with the English international in the January transfer window. Meanwhile, they currently value their prized asset at around £60 million.

Marc Guehi has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea. A graduate of Chelsea’s famous Cobham Academy, the 23-year-old rose to prominence with his exploits in age-group football. But a lack of regular game time at the West London club forced him to leave in 2021.

The move to Crystal Palace has done wonders for Guehi’s career, as he has become a colossal defender. The Englishman has also broken into his national team, making nine appearances thus far. Meanwhile, the player has turned out nearly 100 times for Crystal Palace, chipping in with five goals and one assist.

Guehi’s progress at Crystal Palace has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many high-profile clubs. Recent reports have claimed that the English international will be the priority target for Manchester United heading into the January transfer window. The claims are hardly surprising, considering the defensive shambles at Old Trafford this term.

In addition, Raphael Varane faces an uncertain future at Manchester United. So, Marc Guehi can be Varane’s long-term replacement. But the Red Devils face stiff competition from Chelsea and Tottenham for the Englishman. While Chelsea will need a long-term successor to Thiago Silva, Ange Postecoglou wants someone to compete with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

So, Guehi is a viable target for Chelsea and Tottenham. But the two London clubs and Manchester United have now come across a roadblock, with Crystal Palace unwilling to sell the 23-year-old in January. Meanwhile, the Eagles value him at around £60 million.

The price tag might soar further in the summer transfer window if Marc Guehi breaks into England’s squad for UEFA Euro 2024. But a move before the end of the Three Lions’ campaign at the European Championships is out of the question. So, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham must wait for a few more months before launching the offensive.
