Manchester United want to acquire the services of 23-year-old Crystal Palace defensive sensation Marc Guehi in January on a priority basis.

According to a report by Football Insider, Manchester United are keen on having Marc Guehi in their ranks. They are looking to reinforce their defence in the upcoming winter transfer window, and the 23-year-old Crystal Palace defender is their top priority.

Guehi came through the ranks at Chelsea and made it to their first team quite early in his career. But, things did not work out as planned after getting promoted to the senior side. He ended up joining Crystal Palace on a £50,000-a-week deal in the summer of 2021 for a reported fee of £20 million.

The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength since joining the Eagles. He has racked up a total of 96 appearances in all competitions. Guehi has established himself as one of the mainstays of the South London club. His impressive performances have earned him a place in the England national team and heading into the Euro 2024, he has been a regular.

His consistent performances have attracted a lot of attention. Manchester United are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. The Red Devils are keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old and have started doing background checks ahead of a potential move.

Manchester United have struggled since the start of the season, and one of the major reasons has been the number of injuries their defenders have suffered. Lisandro Martinez is currently out injured, while the exit-linked Raphael Varane has been injury prone of late.

While Varane is back in the mix, Erik ten Hag has preferred having Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in the heart of the defence. He is not happy with the French international’s output of late, and a defensive reinforcement will add depth as well as more competition for those around him.

As a result, the Dutch manager is looking for defensive reinforcement in the winter. They want to ensure they have enough depth in the backline and are looking to sign Guehi, who has been on their radar for a while now. The former Chelsea defender is their number-one priority for the winter transfer window.
