Pep Guardiola is giving serious thoughts about asking Manchester City to re-sign Leroy Sane, with Liverpool also interested in the winger.

Liverpool are also keen on the 27-year-old winger, with Jurgen Klopp thinking of him as Mohamed Salah’s replacement. But Pep Guardiola’s wish could also play a massive role in this tell-tale.
Many were shocked at Leroy Sane’s decision to quit Manchester City in the summer of 2020 in favour of returning to Germany. Having spent his youth days with Schalke, the 27-year-old winger decided to try a new adventure with Bayern Munich.
In the early period, it looked like it was a hit-and-miss transfer for Bayern. But since last season, he has continued to grow in an important role. The German international has also had a fantastic start to the season, with eight goals already in the bag, his tally from last season, too. Meanwhile, he has managed 16 goal contributions across all competitions.
Hence, he is well on course to have his best season with the Bavarians, but could it be his last with the German Champions? Sane’s contract here ends in 2025, which has alerted some of the top Premier League sides of his availability.
Bayern Munich are keen on handing a new deal, but nothing has moved forward. The idea of getting the winger as he’s hitting his peak form have already enticed some of the English sides, with Liverpool reportedly interested.
Klopp considers him a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who could eventually depart for a new adventure in Saudi Arabia. It is an exciting choice for Liverpool, but as per the report, they might face competition from arch-rivals Manchester City.

Now that Sane has returned to his best self again, Guardiola might see him as a solid addition to his squad. On the outside, such a signing is a low priority for Manchester City, who did sign Jeremy Doku in the summer. Still, Sane’s reliability and experience make him a top-quality target.
Even if the winger considered a return, Bayern will not budge for a lower fee. They faced a similar situation with Sane when signing him from Manchester City, as the Premier League champions did not reduce their asking price despite being in a similar position with the winger’s contract.
