Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing AS Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante during the January transfer window.

Bryan Cristante has established himself as a key player for AS Roma, and it remains to be seen whether Jose Mourinho is prepared to let him join his former club Tottenham Hotspur. A report from Il Romanista has claimed that the Italian international could be available for an offer in excess of €30 million.

The 28-year-old could prove to be a quality acquisition for the North London club, and he would allow Ange Postecoglou to rotate his midfield more often and keep the players fresh. He will add defensive steel and control in the middle of the park.

Cristante has shown his quality in Serie A, and he is certainly good enough to succeed in the Premier League as well. A move to Tottenham would be a step up in his career, and he would get to test himself at a high level.

The opportunity to play for a big Premier League club can be hard to turn down for any player, and Cristante will be attracted to the idea of competing in the Premier League with Tottenham. The North London outfit have been excellent this season, and they are expected to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Tottenham will be an attractive destination for most players, and it remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with AS Roma for Cristante. The reported €30 million-plus asking price seems reasonable for a player of his quality in today’s market, and Tottenham certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done.

The report claims that they could offer him a lucrative contract as well, and the player is likely to have his head turned by the proposal. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.

Tottenham will need to bring in the necessary reinforcements in January if they want to sustain their current front of form and finish the season strongly. Apart from a midfielder, they should look to invest in a central defender and a striker as well. Spurs have recently shown interest in Lloyd Kelly.
