Manchester United could ponder a move for Kylian Mbappe after the latest developments in the striker’s transfer saga.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United could enter the Kylian Mbappe chase after the latest update in his transfer saga. The 24-year-old World Cup winner has plenty of suitors. But Real Madrid are reportedly not chasing him anymore, which opens the possibility of other clubs swooping in.

Manchester United are not particularly flush with cash ahead of the January transfer window after some doubts emerged late in the summer window. The Red Devils did spend significantly on players, including Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund. But Erik ten Hag still looks to strengthen his squad.

Furthermore, recent reports have stated that British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is close to acquiring a 25% stake in the club, allowing him to have control of Manchester United. Now, the previous bidder, Sheikh Jassim of Qatar, had reportedly planned to bring superstar players if he took over the club, and that list included Kylian Mbappe.

With the Ratcliffe deal repeatedly inching closer, the report states that he, too, could think about signing the 24-year-old World Cup winner. Many sides are keen on the Frenchman, including Chelsea and Newcastle United. But other sides are keeping a close eye on the PSG superstar.

Real Madrid were the major contenders for a long time. But they have reportedly pulled out of the chase for good in recent days. Whether those reports have any accuracy will get clearer around next summer. But for now, Real Madrid are out. With the Spanish giants bowing out, it allows others to swoop in, notably Manchester United.

The Red Devils have the financial muscle to pull a deal of this kind, even if Mbappe currently racks in £1.2 million weekly. Chelsea are also in the same boat and could bring in the funds to make such an audacious transfer happen.

Manchester United certainly have the cultural aspect and the pull to bring in some top players worldwide. Now it will depend on the 24-year-old World Cup winner to choose his next move, as he seems destined to leave PSG next summer on a free transfer at all costs.
