Liverpool will be open to coughing up €92 million to sign 20-year-old Bayer Leverkusen prospect Florian Wirtz, a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Florian Wirtz is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The 20-year-old Bayer Leverkusen playmaker is also a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid. But the Reds are ready to beat the competition by forking out €92 million to secure his services.

Florian Wirtz has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the world since joining Bayer Leverkusen from FC Koln nearly four years ago. The German international arrived at the BayArena in January 2019 as a youth signing but took little time to become a regular for Die Werkself.

The 20-year-old is now a pivotal figure for the Bundesliga club while also establishing a foothold in the German national team. Meanwhile, Wirtz has started the new campaign well, managing six goals and nine assists in 16 appearances thus far. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

Liverpool heavily bolstered the midfield unit this past summer by signing Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo. But they remain in the market for more reinforcements. And while it is unclear how Wirtz will fit into the scheme of things at Anfield, he is a top target for Liverpool. The Reds are ready to pay €92 million to secure his services.

As for Barcelona, the Blaugrana can do with an attacking midfielder next year, considering summer signing Ilkay Gundogan is only a short-term solution. Wirtz has thus emerged as a viable target for Barcelona. But his enormous asking price is a problem for the reigning La Liga champions.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old German international has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. But with Jude Bellingham taking up a central role since arriving from Borussia Dortmund, there might not be a vacant spot for Wirtz unless he plays on the right flank.

Meanwhile, a January move is unlikely, with Bayer Leverkusen keen on keeping the youngster at the club until the end of the season. So, it is unclear if Liverpool can land him in January with a bid worth €92 million.
