Liverpool will reportedly compete with Chelsea and Barcelona in the race to sign 18-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Gabriel Moscardo is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are scouring the market for a holding midfielder and have set their sights on the Brazilian wonderkid. Meanwhile, the teenage sensation is also a target for Chelsea and Barcelona.

Gabriel Moscardo has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the world in the last few months. The 18-year-old did not appear on the radar of many high-profile clubs during his days in age-group football. But his exploits with the Corinthians first team have alerted many well-known outfits.

The Brazilian wonderkid broke into the Coritinhians first team earlier this year. Since then, the teenage sensation has made 20 further appearances for the Brazilian giants, amassing over 1,000 minutes of game time. Gabriel’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many big-name suitors.

Chelsea tried to sign the young midfielder in the summer transfer window, but a move did not materialise. Nonetheless, the Blues remain interested in securing Gabriel Moscardo’s services in 2024. But they will face stiff competition from Liverpool and Barcelona for the 18-year-old Brazilian sensation.

Chelsea heavily bolstered the midfield unit in the summer transfer window. So, it is unclear why they might still be interested in Gabriel when the attack and defence need more attention. As for Liverpool, the Reds did not sign a first-choice holding midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, they are scouring the market for a candidate to add to Jurgen Klopp’s options.

Gabriel Moscardo has thus emerged as a viable target for Liverpool, who should manage to afford his asking price of £26 million. That might not be the case for Barcelona, at least until the summer transfer window. Nonetheless, the reigning La Liga champions are reportedly the front-runners to land him.

Corinthians will demand around £26 million to part ways with the talented midfield prospect. Meanwhile, with his stock constantly rising, it will not be surprising if other suitors enter the fray. For now, Chelsea, Liverpool and Barcelona are three of the most interested clubs.
