Chelsea might soon make a move to sign Gabriel Moscardo, with Barcelona in the pole position to sign the €30 million-rated wonderkid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, as relayed by Sport Witness, Barcelona and Chelsea are in the transfer tussle to sign Gabriel Moscardo. The Brazilian wonderkid has a price tag of €30 million. And the Catalan giants are ahead of Chelsea in the race to secure his services next year.

Gabriel Moscardo has become one of the most highly sought-after young prospects in the world in the last few weeks. A graduate of Corinthians’ youth division, the 18-year-old has come leaps and bounds this year. He made his first-team debut for the well-known club in the ongoing season and has featured regularly for them.

The Brazilian wonderkid has turned out 27 times thus far for the first team and under-20 side. Meanwhile, Gabriel’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with several high-profile clubs setting their sights on him. Barcelona and Chelsea are two of his prospective suitors heading into the transfer windows in 2024.

Barcelona emerged in the race to sign Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians last month. They have since made massive strides, becoming one of the front-runners to secure his services. Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that they are ready to fork out €30 million, his asking price, to land him in 2024.

The report by SPORT suggests that the reigning La Liga champions lead the race to sign the 18-year-old from Corinthians. But Barcelona will face stiff competition from Chelsea for the young midfielder. And recent updates have suggested that the Blues are advancing talks to secure Gabriel’s services.

Chelsea should have no qualms about shelling out €30 million to sign Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians. The Blues were keen on securing his services in the summer transfer window. But a move did not materialise, with the West London club running out of time on Deadline Day. While reports have claimed that Chelsea might have cooled interest in him, they are ready to make their move instead.

Gabriel’s price tag of €30 million is seemingly not an issue for Barcelona or Chelsea. But with the Blaugrana leading the race to sign him, it will be interesting to see if the West London club can usurp the defending La Liga champions.
