Bundesliga title hopefuls Bayer Leverkusen have overtaken AC Milan in the race to sign 24-year-old Real Madrid outcast Brahim Diaz.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Brahim Diaz is the subject of interest from Bayer Leverkusen. The 24-year-old is also a target for AC Milan. But the Bundesliga title hopefuls are the front-runners in the race to sign the out-of-favour Real Madrid playmaker next year.
Brahim Diaz has seen his stock drop since returning from his long loan spell at AC Milan this past summer. The Spanish international spent the last three seasons at San Siro and became a regular for the Rossoneri. But his time at AC Milan ended when the 2022/23 season culminated.
But Diaz’s fortunes have dwindled since returning to the Santiago Bernabeu. The 24-year-old playmaker has barely featured for Real Madrid this season, managing less than 200 minutes of game time. So, as the January transfer window inches closer, it might behove the player to leave Real Madrid to resurrect his career.
Diaz’s prospects will unlikely improve anytime soon, considering Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior are automatic picks in the final third. So, he might do well to pick a new destination this winter. And the former Manchester City playmaker does not have a shortage of suitors pursuing him, with Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan keen on signing him.
AC Milan considered completing a permanent transfer in the summer transfer window. But a move did not materialise, with Diaz choosing to chance his career at Real Madrid. However, things are going haywire for the 24-year-old playmaker. The Spaniard has thus emerged as a viable target for AC Milan.
As for Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso’s men are in contention to win the title race. But their squad will likely lose a few pivotal figures next year, with Florian Wirtz among the most highly sought-after players in the market. Diaz can thus be a valuable addition to the first-team squad at BayArena. And the Bundesliga title hopefuls are ahead of AC Milan in the battle for Diaz’s signature.

It is unclear if Real Madrid will entertain offers for Diaz despite his falling stature at the Bernabeu. But the out-of-favour 24-year-old playmaker should ideally listen to offers if he wants to resurrect his career.
