Chelsea are ready to make a €52 million move to re-sign Tammy Abraham as Mauricio Pochettino seeks an experienced striker.
According to Fichajes, Chelsea could switch their attention towards re-signing Tammy Abraham during the January window. The Blues are willing to pay €52 million for 26-year-old Aston Villa target, who has lost his starting spot at Roma to on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku.
Chelsea could make a key decision in January about signing a new striker. Their start to the current season has been out of order, and they are struggling for goals without an experienced centre-forward. Mauricio Pochettino continues to lead a young team out on the pitch, but as a club, the Blues must break their age policy to bring in a formidable No.9.
As far as their options go, there aren’t a lot of names out there who fit their mantra of signing players only under the age of 25 or under. Hence, they might have to tweak that to bring somebody with experience and goalscoring prowess.
Brentford are set to demand £100 million for Ivan Toney, which may put the brakes on Chelsea’s pursuit of the striker. They might consider the 27-year-old, but any move will only happen if the Bees drop their asking price.
Incidentally, they are also thinking about former star Tammy Abraham. Chelsea still have a valid buy-back clause worth €80 million into his Roma contract. However, with recent injuries and losing his place to on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku, the 26-year-old’s value may have dropped considerably.
If Lukaku continues with his strong form, Jose Mourinho may sanction a sale of Abraham, with Aston Villa also interested. Unai Emery remains keen on Abraham and could move ahead of the January window. They have the money to execute a deal with Roma, but Chelsea’s interest could complicate the pursuit.

Pochettino must ensure Abraham has no new injury problems, as Chelsea has recently struggled with signing injury-prone players. In any case, despite past interest from many other Premier League clubs in the 26-year-old, it may appear the Blues and Aston Villa are the only ones still keen.
A move back to Chelsea would appeal to Abraham, who may want to keep playing regularly. Stepping out again at Stamford Bridge could come as a welcome change for the striker, who is struggling for relevance at Roma this season.
