Aston Villa have reportedly expressed their interest in 26-year-old AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham, a target for Chelsea.

Tammy Abraham has been linked with the return to the Premier League, with Chelsea considering re-signing him. Now, a report from Calciomercatoweb has claimed that Aston Villa have already expressed their interest in signing the 26-year-old.

The opportunity to return to the Premier League could be an attractive option for Abraham, and he might feel that he has unfinished business in the Premier League. He was not given a fair chance to succeed at Chelsea and will want to prove himself in English football if there is an opportunity ahead of him.

He has previously played for Aston Villa on loan, and the opportunity to return to the West Midlands club could be an exciting option for him. He would get to play regularly at Aston Villa and work under a top class coach like Unai Emery.

Aston Villa have shown tremendous improvement under the Spanish manager, and they are currently competing in European football. They will be looking to push for UEFA Champions League qualification, and they need quality players in order for that to happen.

The Villans have been overly dependent on Ollie Watkins for goals. So, signing another reliable striker should be a top priority for them. Abraham knows English football well, and he should prove to be a quality acquisition. He has scored 36 goals in his first two seasons at Roma, and there is no doubt that he is capable of starting regularly in the Premier League.

The Englishman knows the club well having played for them in the past and he should be able to settle in quickly. It remains to be seen whether Aston Villa submit an official proposal to sign the player in January. For now, they have expressed their interest in the 26-year-old.

Signing a quality player like him midway through the season could galvanise the Aston Villa attack and help them finish the season strongly. The player is valued at €52 million. Meanwhile, he is also a target for Chelsea, who have considered re-signing him in a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku.
