Manchester United are looking closely at Federico Dimarco with a view of making an approach as Erik ten Hag likes the Inter Milan star.

According to Calciomercato, Federico Dimarco has emerged on Manchester United’s target list as Erik ten Hag likes the Inter Milan star. The Serie A giants have no interest in selling the Italian international unless suitors meet their €50 million asking price.

Federico Dimarco has been a revelation in this Inter Milan side and has made a considerable mark at the club. Simone Inzaghi has managed to utilise his talents well and make the defender into an auxiliary left winger in his system.

Dimarco has had a strong start to his third season with Inter Milan, and the 25-year-old will expect to have another stellar campaign. Last time, he helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League Final, and this time around, he will want to win trophies.

Hence, despite some of the best clubs interested in Dimarco, Inter Milan may resist approaches in the January window. In fact, they are planning on handing the left-sided player a new contract that would double his €2 million-a-year salary.

Dimarco appears very happy at the club and will likely sign a new deal, although he knows about some of the clubs keeping close tabs. PSG are among those, and now, Manchester United are interested in an approach with Erik ten Hag keen on signing the €50 million-rated Italian international.

Ten Hag is considering changes to the left side of his defence, which may incline towards bringing either a new left-back or a central defender. There are links to Marc Guehi, and if the Crystal Palace star arrives, they might rely on their current full-back options for the time being.

They have some problems with injured left-backs, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia yet to return from their respective issues. The deadline-day signing of Sergio Reguilon has papered over cracks for now, but the Spaniard does not seem like a long-term option.

Hence, ten Hag might consider an approach for someone like Dimarco, who can bring some much-needed versatility. He can feature as a left-back or even as an attacking left-winger, depending on the style of play. Overall, the €50 million-rated Italian international can prove his utility skills in this system at Old Trafford.

Now, convincing Inter Milan would prove challenging, considering their asking price and the player’s importance at the club. While Manchester United could offer a great opportunity on the sporting and financial fronts, he will still cost a lot of money.
