Juventus had scouts watching Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in action for Denmark as increased speculation points towards an imminent interest.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Juventus are considering making an approach for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after recent developments. The Danish midfielder had scouts from the Serie A club watching him in action against Kazakhstan.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has seen his status at Tottenham drop to a bench role since the start of the season. Despite being one of their important and consistent stars from the previous campaign, Ange Postecoglou has preferred the Danish star as a substitute for most parts.

The emerging midfield partnership of Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma has rendered the Danish star a second choice for Postecoglou. With Spurs doing considerably well with the duo, there are doubts over Hojbjerg’s long-term future at the club.

Tottenham were open to offers during the summer window, with Atletico Madrid one of the key suitors. Some reports suggested the Spanish side wanted to take him on an initial loan, something Spurs were never open to as they preferred to sell him outright.

Juventus are also keen on a loan move for the Danish star in January, and again, Spurs may have pointed them towards a €30 million asking price. The problem for Tottenham will come from their current midfield duo playing in the AFCON during the new year.

Hence, if they cannot find a new midfielder in the market, Hojbjerg’s presence will be seen as important. So a loan move for him appears out of the question, although Spurs will entertain a permanent sale early in the January window.

Juventus had already established contact with Hojbjerg and his camp. They had reportedly sent scouts to watch the €30 million-rated Tottenham man in action for Denmark against Kazakhstan. The reason cited here is that observers wanted to see the midfielder in action for a whole game, something he cannot manage under Postecoglou at the moment.

Juventus had accelerated their chase amid the potential ban for Paul Pogba. Now, with their other midfielder, Nicolo Fagioli, also banned for 7 months amid a betting controversy, they will need a new player in the position on an urgent basis.

Hojbjerg, with his experience in the game, will appear like a solid option, and Juventus must make a swift decision if they want him on board. Surely, other suitors will make approaches during the January window. However, the Serie A giants must settle the nature of the deal for the €30 million-rated Tottenham man with the North Londoners.
