Real Madrid interested in Robin Le Normand

Real Madrid might look to poach Robin Le Normand away from fellow La Liga club Real Sociedad, with Florentino Perez giving the green light for a move.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Robin Le Normand is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are in the market for a centre-back ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window. And the 26-year-old Real Sociedad defender has emerged as a target for Los Blancos.

Robin Le Normand is a native of Pabu in France and spent his formative years in the country, graduating from the Stade Brestois Academy. But he rose to prominence after joining Real Sociedad in July 2016. The player had to bide his time to become a mainstay at the back for La Real but has been top-notch in the last few seasons.

Meanwhile, Le Normand has picked Spain on the international stage after failing to earn a spot in the French national team. As for his progress at the club level, the 26-year-old has turned out nearly 200 times thus far for Real Sociedad, chipping in with five goals and six assists.

Le Normand’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Recent reports have linked the player with well-known Premier League outfits like Arsenal and Aston Villa. But the equation will change drastically now, with Real Madrid joining the race to sign him.

Los Blancos will likely enter the market for a centre-back in the 2024 summer transfer window. The Real Madrid first-team squad is threadbare, with only the midfield unit having sufficient depth. And that lack of strength in numbers has exposed the group less than two months into the 2023/24 season.

The central defensive arsenal is down to its barebones, with Antonio Rudiger being the only centre-back available. In addition, Rudiger, Nacho, and David Alaba are on the wrong side of 30. So, it behoves Real Madrid to invest in a centre-back next summer, with playing like Giorgio Scalvini emerging as targets. But Robin Le Normand is also an option worth considering.

The 26-year-old Spanish international is well-settled in La Liga and should not take long to establish a foothold in the Real Madrid squad. With Florentino Perez giving the green light to secure Le Normand’s services, a move in the 2024 summer transfer window might be on the cards.
