Atalanta will reportedly demand around €40 million to agree to a deal for 19-year-old Italian international Giorgio Scalvini, a target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Giorgio Scalvini is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. And the Merengues now know how much it will take to land the 19-year-old centre-back. Atalanta will demand around €40 million to part ways with the teenage defensive sensation.

Giorgio Scalvini has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the world in the last 12 months. The Italian international has been with Atalanta since July 2015. He rapidly rose through the ranks at the Bergamo-based club before breaking into the first-team squad in October 2021.

The teenage sensation was only 17 when he made his first-team debut for Atalanta. Since then, Scalvini has come leaps and bounds at the club, becoming a mainstay at the back. In addition, the 19-year-old has broken into the Italian national team, turning out six times thus far for them.

Scalvini’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Recent reports have linked him with several well-known Premier League outfits, including Liverpool and Manchester United. In addition, the youngster is a target for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid joined the race to sign the 19-year-old Italian international last month. The Spanish giants are keen on landing a centre-back in the 2024 summer transfer window. David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, and Nacho are on the wrong side of 30, with the Spaniard only a bit-part player for Los Blancos.

In addition, Eder Militao will return next season after a long-term knee injury. So, it behoves Real Madrid to scour the market for a centre-back. Scalvini has thus emerged as a viable target for the Spanish club. Meanwhile, Atalanta will demand around €40 million to part ways with the teenage defensive prodigy.

Real Madrid should not have any qualms about forking out €40 million to sign one of the best young defenders in the world. But with several other centre-backs on their radar, it will be interesting to see if the 19-year-old Italian international becomes their top target.
